Our heartbeat
Music lessons at St John the Baptist Primary school aim to engage and inspire all pupils to develop a love of different types of music that will remain with them throughout their lives. Through a variety of musical activities, including listening, appreciating, singing, playing and composing the children can increase their self- confidence, develop their creativity and feel a sense of achievement. Taking part in experiences such as singing assembly, choir, recorder group, orchestra or a school production can bring a sense of belonging to a group or wider community and a feeling of well-being to both the children involved and to the audience, be it of their peers, family or the wider community. It provides them with the stepping stones for joining such societies in later life and an awareness of what music has to offer them in helping them become happy and contented young people and adults.
